چکیده

The study aimed at the evaluation of the occurrence of genes directly connected with pathogenicity in Yersinia enterocolitica (Y. enterocolitica) strains isolated from wild boars, obtained in the 2007/2008 hunting season in the North-East territory of Poland. Multiplex PCR, used for ail, ystA, and ystB gene detection, was optimised in order to determine the existence of the genes in one reaction. Forty-six palatine tonsils, gained from 46 wild boars of various ages, were preliminary examined from the bacteriological, seroand biotyping points of view; then bacterial DNA was isolated and multiplex PCR was performed. The presence of the product of volume corresponding to the ystB gene fragment was found in two cases, which constituted 4.35% of the examined samples. The ail and ystA genes were not detected in any of the tested samples. The molecularly confirmed existence of Y. enterocolitica in wild boar palatine tonsils, indicates the carrier state and possibly shedding of the microorganism into the environment, and suggests that wild boars, likewise pigs to a lesser extent, may constitute a reservoir of the bacteria and a potential source of infection for the man.

Occurrence of Virulence Genes and Biofilm Formation in Yersinia Enterocolitica Isolated from Pigs

Sixty isolates of Yersinia enterocolitica from pigs belonging to 1A and 4 biotypes, and one non-typeable isolate were investigated in order to determine the occurrence of genes directly connected with pathogenicity of Y. enterocolitica by using a multiplex PCR. The multiplex PCR assay was based on the amplification of the ail, ystA, ystB, and yadA genes in one reaction. The bacterial adhesion t...

Analysis of occurrence of virulence genes among Yersinia enterocolitica isolates belonging to different biotypes and serotypes.

The 150 Y enterocolitica strains isolated from humans and from pigs belonged to biotypes 4 (68.7%), 1A (18.7%) and 2 (4%), or were biochemically untypeable (8.6%). Biotype 4 was comprised of Y. enterocolitica strains representing serotype O:3, within biotype 1A the strains either belonged to serotypes O:5 and O:6 or were untypeable, and biotype 2 was represented by the strains of serotype O:9. ...

Evaluation of virulence genes in Yersinia enterocolitica strains using SYBR Green real-time PCR.

Yersinia enterocolitica comprises six biotypes 1A, 1B, 2, 3, 4, and 5. The virulence of the strains belonging to biotypes 1B and 2-5 depends on the presence of both chromosomal and plasmid-borne genes. Strains belonging to biotype 1A do not carry the virulence plasmid pYV. However, they carry other virulence genes, such as ystB and hreP. The aim of this study was to investigate the distribution...

Pathogenic Yersinia enterocolitica O:3 isolated from a hunted wild alpine ibex.

Occurrence of Yersinia spp. in wild ruminants was studied and the strains were characterized to get more information on the epidemiology of enteropathogenic Yersinia in the wildlife. In total, faecal samples of 77 red deer, 60 chamois, 55 roe deer and 27 alpine ibex were collected during 3 months of the hunting season in 2011. The most frequently identified species was Y. enterocolitica found i...

Bioserotypes and virulence markers of Y. enterocolitica strains isolated from roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) and red deer (Cervus elaphus).

Free-living animals are an important environmental reservoir of pathogens dangerous for other animal species and humans. One of those is Yersinia (Y.) enterocolitica, the causative agent of yersiniosis--foodborne, enzootic disease, significant for public health. The purpose of the study was to identify bioserotypes and virulence markers of Y enterocolitica strains isolated from roe deer (Capreo...
